Originally from Iceland Ruth Olafsdottir lived in Austria and Germany before settling down in Los Angeles in 1983. Ruth has been a shiatsu practitioner/massage therapist for 23 years and became a doula in 2002.
Her experience includes pregnancy massage and infant massage, as well as pre and post surgery treatments, rehabilitation for injuries, and chronic problems such as neck and back pain. As a doula She has been able to integrate into her comfort measures her massage expertise and knowledge of Chinese Medicine and Reflexology as a tool to alleviate labor pain, soothe nerves and relax the mind and muscles.
Ruth believes Birth to be the single most important event in one's life. She would like to help celebrate it as such and make it as enjoyable and safe as possible for all.
